Rev. Charles R. Spencer along with his wife, Wilma, came to Riverdale in 1965 to pioneer Riverdale Assembly of God church. In October, 2015, they will celebrate 50 years as senior pastors. The church has steadily grown under their leadership and is presently worshiping in a beautiful new sanctuary on the corner of Marks and Mt. Whitney. They have a genuine love for people and a desire to see lives changed by the power of God. They have five children, twenty-five grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Lorne and Donna Pine came to Riverdale in the mid 70’s and were the first full time staffers to work with Pastor Spencer. Lorne and Donna were instrumental in the formation of RCA and have worked at the school and church in multiple facets of ministry including teaching at RCA, bus maintenance, secretarial duties, bookkeeping, orchestra, lights and sound, computer maintenance and the list goes on. They have no children of their own but have opened their home through the years to many young people who still call them “Mom and Dad”.
Rev. Doug Spencer joined the staff in 1983 as High School Supervisor and sports coach for Riverdale Christian. His wife, Teri, was in the first graduation class of RCA and has taught at the school ever since. He is the founder and executive director of the Living Nativity, one of the most popular Christmas productions in the valley. Currently Doug serves as the Principal of RCA and as Pastor at Avenal Assembly of God. Doug is the oldest son of Charles and Wilma Spencer and has eight children and ten grandchildren.
Jim and Darla Davis were married and added to the staff in the spring of 1981. Together they teach music at RCA and direct the choirs of the church. They formed the Ambassador Youth Choir in 1988 and have ministered in almost every state of the union. Inspired to help other churches, the HIM Conference was began in 1992 and the Mass Choir live recordings have been a blessing to many people. Jim writes many of the songs for worship that have been recorded by more than 60 groups. Jim and Darla have six children.
Brian and Susie became a part of the staff in 1994. They teach the Junior High at RCA, direct the children’s ministry of the church and have worked together to produce excellent puppet teams. Many area churches have invited Brian and Susie to bring the teams for Kid’s Crusades, VBS or a block party outreach. Brian is the second son of Charles and Wilma Spencer. Brian and Susie have four children.
Chuck and Lyndsay Spencer joined the staff in 2002. Lyndsay is the receptionist at the new sanctuary and Chuck supervises the high school Department of RCA as well as coaching the Football and basketball teams.
