Holiness In Ministries Conference Introduction
In the early 1980’s, Jim and Darla Davis, music directors at the Riverdale Assembly of God in Riverdale California, were looking for ways to improve the music ministry. They soon realized after attending several music events that most of the conferences were hosted by mega churches in large metropolitan cities and by other denominations. They felt overwhelmed and out of place.
A dream was born and in 1991 the first H.I.M. Conference was held using the Riverdale High School Auditorium. Since then, the church has built a new 900 seat sanctuary and continued in ministry to the local community. The world has changed and the new H.I.M. Conference will attempt to address these changes without losing sight of the fact that the Gospel is still the same!
Riverdale is a small western dairy town of 2500 people. Yet here in the middle of nowhere is a strong Pentecostal church of 400 with a large youth group, a bus ministry that averages over 130 kids and adults each week, a Christian school with 140 students, and a church that is still full on Wednesday nights. The goal of the H.I.M. Conference is to open the local church ministries to you and say….you can do it too!

Where is Riverdale, Ca?
Riverdale is located about 25 miles south of Fresno, California in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco.
How Much Does it Cost to Register?
- $149 per person. If you attended 2020 conference, and are bring a new guest, your registration is FREE!
- Registered pastor’s spouse may attend at NO charge.
Is there a group rate?
Yes! For groups of 5 or more the cost is $99 per person
What is the Seminar Schedule?
Format will consist of three or four classes simultaneously. You may attend the class of your choice. Some sessions will be recorded and available for purchase. Handouts will be given out for most classes that can be added to your binder for easy reference after the conference. More details are listed below.
What About Lodging?
Nearest motels are located in Lemoore, CA. Many of our church families will be opening their homes for out of town guests. Please let us know when filling out your registration form. Most homes will also provide transportation during the conference.
Can I Bring my RV/Trailer?
The church has 6 full hookups (50 amp) available on a first come, first served basis.
Are Meals Provided?
Due to the lack of restaurants and fast food diners in Riverdale, the ladies of the church will be providing dinner for all registrants Wed – Fri. Continental breakfast and will be available for purchase at the church each morning before the sessions.
Transportation?
If flying, suggested airports are Fresno (30 minutes from Riverdale), San Jose (2 ½ hours), San Francisco (3 ½ hours), Los Angeles (4 hours).
MASS Choir Participation?
Singing in the H.I.M. Mass choir is an exciting finale to the week. Many participants do not have a choir in their local church, so it is a great opportunity to join the 120+ voices in worship on Friday night. The conference binder will include lyrics and chord charts to make it easy to take your favorite songs back to your home church. Must be 12 years of age to participate.
NOTE: If you would like to sing with the Mass Choir, please notify us on your registration form to receive access to the parts tracks that will be available online. There will only be three rehearsals during the conference so you will need to be familiar with the material before you arrive.
Sightseeing?
Those who wish to take advantage of beautiful California (Riverdale doesn’t exactly fit this description!), will find the giant Redwoods and Yosemite two hours to the east and Pacific coast two hours to the west. San Francisco is also worth a visit, especially if you are using the San Francisco airport. Some people arrive early or stay after the conference to visit these popular destinations.
